Yes, the title says it all. How can a reasonable person draw a different conclusion based on the facts?

The simple truth is that democrats are willing to make AMERICANS suffer to benefit ILLEGAL ALIENS. They are putting the interests of criminals and other nations ahead of and above those of the AMERICAN CITIZENS whom they are supposed to serve. In the house version of a continuing resolution to fund the government, the democrats were given all of the stuff they typically support, but they STILL insist on shutting down government, and penalizing our military and veterans, children, and the elderly.

REMEMBER THIS: Congress STILL GETS PAID.

Two ‘Dreamers’ caught smuggling illegal immigrants into U.S.

This is just another reason NOT to legalize the so-called “Dreamers.”  Yes, they were brought here as children with little say in the matter, but contrary to what the left would have you believe, they are not all a bunch of doughy eyed pre-K school kids.  Most now are adults, and have had ample time to figure out that they are in fact here illegally, and could have made the decision to leave or make themselves known to the authorities.

THEY DIDN’T.

Once they reached the age of 18, there were no more excuses.  They were consciously breaking out immigration laws, and many are breaking all sorts of other laws, as evidenced in this article.  When the justice system turns a blind eye to the non-citizen while enforcing EVERY law on the citizen, you have a huge problem.

On contact with law enforcement, they must be sent back to whatever country they came from.  End of story.

Two young illegal immigrant “Dreamers” in the U.S. under protection of the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty were caught smuggling illegal immigrants in separate incidents in Texas, authorities announced Thursday.

The arrests come at a time when Congress is debating what to do about Dreamers, and the arrests could complicate the picture painted of Dreamers as law-abiding standouts who are victims of circumstance.

Customs and Border Protection said the first smuggling attempt was broken up on Oct. 4, after Border Patrol agents stopped a car at a checkpoint on Interstate 35 and discovered two illegal immigrants from Brazil hiding in the trunk.

The driver of the car was from Guatemala, a juvenile who had been approved by the Obama administration for a DACA permit in 2016.

Three days later the same checkpoint snared another DACA recipient from Mexico smuggling an illegal immigrant from Mexico in his trunk.

Neither of the Dreamers’ names were released.

They and the illegal immigrants they were trying to smuggle are all being processed for deportation, CBP said.

To qualify for the DACA program illegal immigrants must assert they were brought to the U.S. as children and have kept a relatively clean record.

Immigrant-smuggling violates the terms of the agreement, as does gang membership or other serious crimes of violence.

As of this summer, some 2,139 Dreamers had had their DACA status revoked, out of nearly 800,000 people who’d been approved for the program — an incredibly low rate of about a quarter of 1 percent.

President Trump last month said he was phasing out the DACA program, saying otherwise it was likely to have been struck down by the courts, which the administration said could have sparked chaos.

Instead, Mr. Trump announced a six-month phaseout, with those currently protected allowed to serve out the rest of their permits, which are good for up to two years.

The president said he wanted Congress to use the six months to pass a more permanent solution.

Democrats and some Republicans have called for a quick legalization and a full pathway to citizenship, while the Trump administration says it doesn’t support full citizenship, and wants to see any bill coupled with stiff enforcement measures.

DNC Working Hand-in-Hand With the Queen of Pay-for-Play

Hillary Clinton is the undisputed queen of pay-for-play.  Everyone knows it, she has been caught doing it, and would be in jail for it if the corrupt regime were not shielding her.  FBI Director James Comey laid out the complete case for her prosecution, but then said he was not recommending prosecution.  He defined “gross negligence” with her demonstrated actions (which is what the governing statute requires for prosecution), but then said her actions did not warrant prosecution.  He CLEARLY demonstrated her intent to break the law, and hide/mishandle highly classified information, even though proving intent is not required to prosecute someone under the laws governing the handling of classified information.  And then, you guessed it, he said she showed no intent.  James Comey could have just come out and said that they found nothing, but he took the unusual step of laying out the crimes of Hillary Clinton for all to see right before confounding everyone by saying he was not recommending prosecution.  My guess is that he didn’t want to wind up dead like so many others in the trail of dead bodies along the Clinton’s path to power.

Now we have EVEN MORE PROOF of illegal behavior and corruption of Hillary Clinton and the democrat apparatus.  But based on what we have been shown by James Comey, Loretta Lynch-mob, and Barack Obama, we know that the rule of law in America is now dead.  There are clearly two sets of rules and laws in this country now, one for we the unwashed masses, and another for the self-proclaimed elites.  They view us as the peasants in “History of the World Part 1.”

Regardless, there is only so much of this kind of outright corruption, this “Teflon Donna” persona,  this “let them eat cake” attitude that people will take before they do something about her, even if the government and federal selective “law enforcement” refuse to do anything.  The best option is defeating her in November.  But should she and the democrat machine manage to cheat Hillary’s way into the White House, which is highly likely, then simply voting will mean nothing anymore.  Direct action by Americans will be required not only to remove her, but to restore the rule of law.

Side note on cheating:  Granting clemency to hundreds of thousands of convicted criminals to allow them to vote (Virginia governor Terry Mcauliffe, long time Clinton supporter), and registering millions of illegal aliens to vote (California) while fighting efforts to require voter ID and proof of citizenship are just three of the many ways democrats are pursuing to ensure that they gain permanent power, and that YOU and all other citizens are marginalized.

Democratic National Committee documents recently released by WikiLeaks include spreadsheets and emails that appear to show party officials planning which donors and prominent fundraisers to provide with appointments to federal boards and commissions.

The documents, which were circulated among top DNC officials in April, could raise legal questions for the party, says Ken Boehm, the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group.

“The disclosed DNC emails sure look like the potential Clinton Administration has intertwined the appointments to federal government boards and commissions with the political and fund raising operations of the Democratic Party,” Boehm told The Daily Caller.

“That is unethical, if not illegal.”

America Waking Up to the Reality That We Need to Brace for Impact

The pilot was locked out of the cockpit. That phrase finally revealed the full horror of the crash of Germanwings flight 9525. Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz waited for the pilot to leave the cockpit, then locked the door to prevent his re-entry. After which Lubitz, for reasons unknown and perhaps unknowable, deliberately steered the jet into a harrowing 8 minute plunge ending in an explosive 434 mph impact
with a rocky mountainside. 150 men, women and children met an immediate, unthinkably violent death.

Lubitz, in his single-minded madness, couldn’t be stopped because anyone who could change the jet’s disastrous course was locked out. It’s hard to imagine the growing feelings of fear and helplessness that the passengers felt as the unforgiving landscape rushed up to meet them. Hard – but not impossible.

Because America is in trouble. We feel the descent in the pits of our stomachs. We hear the shake and rattle of structures stressed beyond their limits. We don’t know where we’re going anymore, but do know it isn’t good. And above all, we feel helpless because Barack Obama has locked us out.

He locked the American people out of his decision to seize the national healthcare system. Locked us out when we wanted to know why the IRS was attacking conservatives. He locked us out of having a say in his decision to tear up our immigration laws, and to give over a trillion dollars in benefits to those who broke those laws.

Obama locked out those who advised against premature troop withdrawals. Locked out the intelligence agencies who issued warnings about the growing threat of ISIS . He locked out anyone who could have interfered with his release of five Taliban terror chiefs in return for one U.S. military deserter.

And of course, Barack Obama has now locked out Congress, the American people, and our allies as he strikes a secret deal with Iran to determine the timeline (not prevention) of their acquisition of nuclear weapons.

Was Andreas Lubitz depressed, insane, or abysmally evil when he decided to lock that cockpit door and listen to no voices other than those in his head? Did he somehow believe himself to be doing the right thing?

The voice recordings from the doomed aircraft reveal that as the jet began its rapid descent, the passengers were quiet. There was probably some nervous laughter, confusion, a bit of comforting chatter with seat mates, followed by a brief period in which anxiety had not yet metastasized into terror.

It was only near the end of the 8 minute plunge that everyone finally understood what was really happening. Only near the end when they began to scream.

Like those passengers, a growing number of Americans feel a helpless dread as they come to the inescapable conclusion that our nation’s decline is an act of choice rather than of chance. The choice of one man who is in full control of our 8 year plunge. A man who has locked everyone out.

For what Obama has done in 5 years, ANY other president would have been arrested, tried for treason, and HUNG. What in God’s name is wrong with our government that they allow this guy carte blanch to break the law, rewrite and create laws without congress, and ignore and attack the Constitution? It absolutely boggles the mind!

What spawned such an evil man?  How about a communist-muslim loving mother who was into posing for pornographic pictures, a communist-muslim father (whether you believe the father is BO, Sr., or Frank Marshall Davis, the father was at least communist), communist grandparents, terrorist and communist friends and mentors?

Obama Promises To Break Judge’s Amnesty Injunction – REMOVE AND ARREST HIM NOW

Obama is so far beyond the need for impeachment that you can’t even see the top of the list of impeachable offenses from here. He has violated a long list of court orders and decisions, failed to enforce laws he is sworn to enforce, created “laws” which he has no authority to create, selectively enforced laws against his opponents violating the equal protections clause AND his job description in Article 2, and he has given aid and comfort to the enemies of America. This tyrant must be REMOVED. Attach whatever word or description to that concept that you wish. Congress won’t impeach and arrest him, so either the military must honor their oath to support and defend the Constitution by removing him, or the people are going to have to do the job. Either way, it must be done. It is the first and most important step to saving America.

Republican governors, are you paying attention? Who is going to pay for this executive amnesty? WE ARE.  Our already cash-strapped states and communities will be forced to foot the bill for benefits for millions of newly “legalized” illegal aliens. The progressive establishment leadership of the GOP in Washington DC is planning to do NOTHING to put a stop to this. I’m afraid that we can wait no longer for anyone in Washington DC to do the right thing. If you all band together, we can stop all of this mess with one proclamation. Red states, band together and SECEDE. The progressive states could do little or nothing to stop it, and could not survive without us. Once they realize they will die on the vine without us, we can reunite the republic on OUR terms. What other choices do we have left? All three branches of the federal government are off the constitutional reservation, and the military has been castrated and appears unwilling to honor their oath to protect and defend the Constitution. If the goal is the restoration of the republic, the rule of law, and the Constitution, then it would seem the only alternatives left are a chaotic and bloody civil war, or secession. I believe a mass secession has the best chance of succeeding.

Campaign Obama vs. Dictator Obama on Immigration

There are two ways one can view Barack Obama, neither of them flattering.  He is either a STUPID liar who can’t remember which lies he has told, or he is a PATHOLOGICAL liar who lies without remorse or conscience with specific intent to harm.  The mounting evidence supports the latter.  Obama’s OWN WORDS on immigration ‘reform’ bear this out.

When Obama was in campaign mode, he gave a constitutional answer saying that he didn’t have the authority to implement unilateral executive action on amnesty.  Now he says he’s tired of waiting on congress, and MUST act.  I agree with ‘Campaign’ Obama on this issue, and condemn ‘Dictator’ Obama.

There’s absolutely nothing legal or constitutional about the president unilaterally establishing a “uniform Rule of Naturalization,” which is a power SPECIFICALLY  delegated to congress in Article 1, Section 4, para 8 of the Constitution. And just because the congress doesn’t act WHEN or HOW the president wants them to, there is no trigger in the Constitution that magically gives the president to act unilaterally. The president’s job is to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” (Article 2, Section 3).  If the president doesn’t like a law the congress passes, he can veto it. If they override the veto, he MUST obey and enforce the law, and can’t just sign it away and ignore it with signing statements and executive orders.  If he doesn’t like an existing law, he can’t just choose NOT to enforce it. It must be ruled unconstitutional by the SUPREME COURT (not the president), or repealed by congress. That’s the CONSTITUTIONAL process. Period. Obama in his own words, when he was running for office, and blaming Bush for everything, said EXACTLY this. But now he pretends that there is now some new found power for him to act unilaterally in a way that will materially damage this nation. He knows the flood of illegals will damage our economy and harm Americans. Go listen to the audio of Obama’s own book. He says it in there, so he can’t deny he once at least pretended to think this way.  Listen to him on the campaign trail, or with UNIVISION.  He said REPEATEDLY that he DOES. NOT. HAVE. THE. AUTHORITY. TO. ACT. UNILATERALLY.  But now he is flip-flopping to say he MUST act, and WILL act, and that he somehow has the power to act.

We are being backed into a corner.  We have all three branches of government acting unconstitutionally, and refusing to employ checks and balances to restrain the other branches of government.  Those three branches have now neutered the military, which by virtue of their oath of office/enlistment makes them the last governmental check on a tyrannical government.  Should Barack Obama attempt to implement this amnesty, on top of the other damaging pseudo-amnesties he has already illegally and unconstitutionally implemented, and should congress and the Supreme Court not IMMEDIATELY impeach him and rule his acts unconstitutional, OR in the absence of such action should the military fail to honor their oath to protect and defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, both foreign AND domestic, then American citizens and patriots will have no choice remaining but to remove and replace this government.

The Free Market Only “Fails” When Liberal/Progressive Politicians Interfere With It

It’s both entertaining and frustrating to hear liberal progressives making the claim that “capitalism and the free market has failed.”  That’s funny since nearly every “failure of the free market” can pretty easily be traced to intervention by government, and the resulting market distortion of that intervention.  Here are a few examples.

1. Healthcare & Wage/Price Controls – Up until around the time of WWII, most people paid cash or bartered with their doctor for medical services.  During WWII, the government implemented wage and price controls across the economy.  Because wages were fixed, businesses had to come up with other ways to attract the few quality workers who hadn’t gone off to war.  Many started offering medical “insurance” as one of their perks.  Medical care is a limited commodity, and when you subsidize the price of a limited commodity so that the consumer doesn’t feel the regulating pain of price, people consume more of that product than they otherwise would.  When the demand for a commodity goes up and supply can’t be immediately increased, price naturally increases as a means to regulate demand.  When you artificially hold the price down, you create a shortage.  Fast forward to today with Obamacare.  The government subsidizes healthcare for millions who couldn’t afford it before, which seems like the compassionate thing to do.  But at the same time millions MORE will be getting access to a limited number of doctors, the government is limiting what doctors will be reimbursed, thus controlling price, but not addressing real COST.  A demand for medical services is created that outstrips capacity.  Government created shortage.
2. Housing Market – All you need to look at here is the 2008 economic crash precipitated by the bursting of the housing bubble.  How did that bubble inflate?  One word: government.  There were many contributory causes, but the main causes were manipulation and coercion of the banking industry in an attempt to achieve a specific SOCIAL outcome.  The Community Reinvestment Act is one of those causes.  Banks were pressured to abandon sound historic banking practices to make more loans in high risk areas.  Hiding under the fallacy that this was all to prevent the practice of racial “red lining,” banks were told directly or indirectly to either make the loans, or else.  Normally if a bank makes bad loans, they go out of business.  But government removed the moral restraints, and overrode the sound banking practices that had been in place for centuries, all with the promise that if the loans went bad, government would bail out the banks.  Sound familiar?  Thus through provisions in the law (written by government), banks sold bad loans as securities spreading out the risk to many other sectors of the economy.  The sheer volume of these bad loans, and the mounting risk, was pointed out in the early 2000’s, but the liberals lead by people like Maxine Waters and Barney Frank told us “Remain calm.  All is well.”  Fast forward to 2008 and the economic crash caused by government intervention in the free market, NOT by the free market itself.
3. The labor market – There are so many ancillary issues to this one.  Illegal immigration/amnesty, tax code, government regulations, etc.  The one I’ll speak to specifically here is the government imposed minimum wage.  As mentioned above with health care, health care is labor, and labor is a commodity.  Businesses pay wages for labor commensurate with the value which that labor adds to the company.  It might be worth $3/hr for a store owner to pay a kid to sweep his floors a few times per week.  But if forced by government to pay $15/hr for that same unskilled labor, the store owner will likely not hire that young kid, and will sweep his floors himself.  This eliminates entry level jobs, prevents young people from gaining work experience, and distorts the labor market and the price of goods.  The artificially inflated labor costs also hasten the move to automation.  Automation and the advancement of technology is inevitable, but when you ARTIFICIALLY raise the minimum wage, you will only hasten the day when companies will choose to replace their unreliable carbon-based employees with robotic employees who don’t take breaks, don’t have healthcare costs (other than maintenance), can’t unionize, and don’t get pensions.  In general, businesses have 4 choices when faced with an artificially increased labor cost.  Absorb the cost by reducing profit, raise prices (which may reduce demand, thus not paying for the increased labor, leading to layoff or closure), eliminate the job/not create the job, or go out of business.  Thus the minimum wage actually harms the very people it was claimed to be helping.

So, if you’re an employee with minimum skill, minimum motivation, and minimum education who contributes minimum value to the company’s bottom line, you deserve minimum pay.  You want $15/hr to flip burgers?  Sorry, your not worth it.

“Immigration Reform” = Amnesty = More Democrat Voters

Let’s be clear. The democrat push for “immigration reform,” otherwise known as amnesty, is simply the blunt instrument to accomplish their aim of flipping Texas and some other red states to blue states, and ensure that a republican can never again get elected to the White House. It has nothing to do with helping America, or actually helping illegal immigrants. Because in the end, after legalizing upwards of 30 million illegals which our economy can’t absorb at this point, things for Americans will only get worse as economic conditions worsen, and taxes go up to pay for all the new “entitlement” payments.

Obama lets the curtain slip a little bit when he says

“It would provide a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million individuals who are already in this country illegally.”

As bad as that is, it’s still sugar coating the truth because there are likely more than double that number of illegals in the country, and that number is growing daily as disgruntled citizens of other countries are getting wind of a looming amnesty here. It will likely explode well beyond that with chain migration. Since latinos, who make up the bulk of the people who will be covered under the amnesty plan, reliably vote at nearly 80% for democrats, the reasoning for the amnesty push is clear.

Obama goes on to repeat the lie about border security by saying…

“The truth is, right now, our border with Mexico is more secure than it’s been in years. We’ve put more boots on that border than at any time in our history, and illegal crossings are down by nearly 80 percent from their peak in 2000. But we’ve got more to do – not just to secure the border but to fix an immigration system that is badly broken.”

No, according to the Border Patrol, the flow of illegals is exploding ahead of a looming amnesty. While there are more border agents than there were in 2000, that is largely due to a plan started by Bush, and begrudgingly continued by Obama. While we do need to “fix” the immigration system, his idea of “fixing” the problem with amnesty is NOT the answer.

If We Took the Constitution Seriously, Obama Would Be Impeached

That’s just it.  We’re not serious about the Constitution anymore.  Progressives have succeeded in dumbing down America to the point they just don’t know any better, and/or just don’t care.  Watching the Superbowl, or American Idol seems to be much more important than holding politicians accountable for following the law and abiding by the Constitution which they swore an oath to defend.  Then all of a sudden people wake up and find their freedom gone, taxes through the roof, wondering what happened.

What does the republican leadership do about it?  Nothing.  Zip.  Zero.  Zilch.  Nada.  They spout some political bluster, then consistently FAIL to follow through.  Even in the rare case someone decides to draft articles of impeachment, the leadership will not allow a vote.

Flashback to the impeachment of Bill Clinton.  What did he get impeached for?  For lying about getting a blowjob from a star struck intern in the Oval Orifice… er… Office.  Compare that to the long laundry list of things Barack Hussein Obama is NOT being impeached for.

• NOT enforcing DOMA
• NOT enforcing immigration law
• NOT complying with the War Powers Act when taking us into Libya
• Violating contract law in the GM bailout and subsequent takeover
• Ignoring court orders to lift moratoriums on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico
• And the list goes on…

These offenses and others are arguably and obviously much worse than getting a Lewinsky at your desk, and easily arguable as impeachable offenses, yet NOTHING is being done about them.  NOTHING.  So, what’s with the republicans?  They have a slam dunk case and do nothing with it.  WHY?

If the citizens of this Republic still took the Constitution seriously, Obama would be impeached for his decision to unilaterally grant amnesty to certain illegal aliens.

Article 1, Sec. 8 of the Constitution, which enumerates the power of Congress, states that “Congress shall have the Power To… establish an [sic] uniform Rule of Naturalization.” Congress has passed numerous laws pertaining to immigration and naturalization, including laws requiring the deportation of illegals.

The role of the President, according to Article II, Sec. 3, is to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” Obama’s refusal to execute Congress’s immigration laws (or, for that matter, Congress’s Defense of Marriage Act) is an impeachable offense. Article II, Sec. 4 states that the President “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for… Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors.” The deliberate failure to enforce valid immigration law and allow hordes of foreigners to live and work in the U.S. is, arguably, “treason,” and doing so in an election year to appease Hispanic voters could certainly be considered “bribery.”

In theory, Obama could exercise his power in Article II, Sec 2. to “grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States” and offer a blanket pardon for all violators of immigration law. He’s not doing that, because he’d certainly lose in November if he did. (However we should be concerned that if he does lose in November, he’ll do it anyway on his last day in office).

The upshot of Obama’s policy not only to allow hundreds of thousands of illegals to live and work in the U.S. during a time of 8 to 10% unemployment, but even worse, since the vast number of illegals we’re talking about are Hispanics eligible for affirmative-action preferences, to actually get preferential treatment over native-born Americans.

Remember Obama’s speech in Berlin in 2008? Well, now you know what “citizen of the world” means: instituting an illegal and unconstitutional policy that favors Third Worlders, and disadvantages people actually born as U.S. citizens.

Of course, he’ll get away with it… if you think the gutless Republicans in the House actually represent the interests of their native born constituents and will introduce articles of impeachment, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you….

Obama Administration Plan for Executive Action Amnesty

This is only one step away from America actually being a dictatorship.

This memo shows, yet again, that Obama is planning to impose an amnesty, with or without congress.  They did the same thing with cap-and-tax by threatening to use the EPA to impose cap-and-trade/tax by fiat.  They haven’t actually done either yet, but when has a president EVER been so bold as to threaten to openly disregard the constitution like this?

This is ANOTHER in the growing list of examples or tyrannical behavior coming from this administration.

This tyrant MUST… BE… STOPPED.

A newly revealed memo, obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) who is leading the fight against amnesty, shows Obama Administration officials offering a detailed plan that would offer actual or de facto amnesty to millions of illegal aliens without Congress ever taking a vote.

The 11-page memo, drafted by Chief of Policy and Strategy for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Denise Vanison, outlines the various ways to offer a mass amnesty to the nation’s 11-18 million illegal aliens through the use of administrative actions. The stated purpose of the memo is to offer “administrative relief options to promote family unity, foster economic growth, achieve significant process improvements and reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization.”

“The memo proposes 18 different ways for the Obama Administration to essentially eliminate our borders through regulatory fiat and in clear violation of the letter and the spirit of U.S. immigration laws, which Obama swore an oath to faithfully execute,” said NumbersUSA’s Director of Government Relations Rosemary Jenks.

The memo is an alternative plan to amnesty “in the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform.” In addition to using deferred action and parole, which were previously identified in two separate letters drafted by Sen. Grassely and signed by 11 other Senators (read the first and second letters), the memo outlines ways that USCIS can extend benefits and protections to individuals and groups of people by lessening the standards used in “extreme hardship” cases.

Item 4 in the memo outlines ways the Obama Administration can provide amnesty for millions of illegal aliens through the “extreme hardship” provision. It would “encourage many more spouses, sons, and daughters of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to seek relief without fear of removal. It would also increase the likelihood that such relief would be granted.” Section 4 reads:

Lessen the Standard for Demonstrating “Extreme Hardship”

The Act at 212(a)(9)(B)(i)(I) and (II) renders inadmissible for 3 or 10 years individuals who have been unlawfully present in the U.S. for 180 days or one year respectively, and then depart. By statute, DHS has discretion to waive these grounds of inadmissibility for spouses, sons and daughters of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents if the refusal to admit such individuals would result in extreme hardship to their qualifying relatives. Generally, the “extreme hardship” standard has been narrowly construed by USCIS.

To increase the number of individuals applying for waivers, and improve their chances of receiving them, CIS could issue guidance or a regulation specifying a lower evidentiary standard for “extreme hardship.” This would promote family unity, and avoid the significant human and financial costs associated with waiver denial decisions born of an overly rigid standard. This revised standard would also complement expanded use of PIP as set forth in B.

In addition to lessening the standard for demonstrating “extreme hardship”, the memo details many more options that “have the potential to result in meaningful immigration reform absent legislative action.”

Other options include: allowing aliens in the United States under Temporary Protected Status to adjust their status to Legal Permanent Resident, extending “grace periods” to leave the country for aliens on temporary work visa, changing the distribution time line for temporary workers on the H-2B visa, and granting up to 240 additional days on applications for employment authorization when the application is filed before the work authorization expiration date.

Denise Vanison has been an immigration attorney for more than 18 years. She advised multi-national and domestic corporate clients on employment of foreign nationals in the United States, I-9 employment verification and procurement of passports, visas, green cards and U.S. citizenship.

The memo was drafted for Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas. In addition to Denise Vanison, Roxana Bacon from the Chief Councel’s office, Debra Rogers from Field Operations, and Donald Neufield from Service Center Operations were also listed as authors of the memo.

UPDATE: DHS has issued the following response:

Internal draft memos do not and should not be equated with official action or policy of the Department. We will not comment on notional, pre-decisional memos. As a matter of good government, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will discuss just about every issue that comes within the purview of the immigration system. We continue to maintain that comprehensive bipartisan legislation, coupled with smart, effective enforcement, is the only solution to our nation’s immigration challenges.

Internal memoranda help us do the thinking that leads to important changes; some of them are adopted and others are rejected. Our goal is to implement policies wisely and well to strengthen all aspects of our mission. The choices we have made so far have strengthened both the enforcement and services sides of USCIS — nobody should mistake deliberation and exchange of ideas for final decisions. To be clear, DHS will not grant deferred action or humanitarian parole to the nation’s entire illegal immigrant population.
