Water Boarding John Murtha: A Eulogy

As I stated in the eulogy for Ted “Hiccup” Kennedy, I hope that John found salvation before he died.  But just as with Ted, I kind of doubt it.

REAL Marines have a special place in God’s heart, so there probably aren’t any of them in Hell with John Murtha right now.  But, I’m sure there are plenty of tortured souls down there waiting for their turn to water board John.  Perhaps Murtha and Kennedy are sharing vodka martinis between their water boarding sessions.

What sounds do you think John will hear for eternity?  Will it be the sounds of the reports saying that ALL OF THE HADITHA MARINES WERE ACQUITED? Or will it be the voices of all REAL Marines disowning John Murtha?

For someone who once at least claimed to be an honorable person in the form of a United States Marine, the fall from grace was a long one.  His corruption has been documented over many decades.  One of the earlier was his involvement in the ABSCAM affair (Murtha – Abscam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwjkQTNPDAg).

Murtha was known as the “King of Pork” in Washington circles.  That’s no small feat.

Perhaps Murtha’s “finest” moment, and the one for which he is likely to be forever remembered, will be his desperate lunge for the microphone to seize the opportunity to attack George W. Bush by accusing Marines of atrocities without knowing any of the facts.

Of course, when the Haditha Marines were EXONERATED, Mr. Murtha seemed to develop an allergy to microphones and cameras.

Of course, the coward John Murtha should have apologized when he was proven 100% completely wrong for besmirching and defaming these Marines.  But sadly, he no longer has the chance to do it.

So, in a final farewell to John Murtha, I play for you some thoughts of another commentator on the internet on the passing of the Cowardly King of Pork.

Hell’s kind of warm this time of year.  Hope you brought plenty of sun screen, John.  RIP.

Good Night, John Murtha.

How will John Murtha be remembered?  That depends on what your economic diet consisted of.  If you were on a steady diet of ‘pork’ that Murtha ‘farmed’ from Washington (i.e. pulled from the other 49 state’s taxpayers to buy votes in his own state), then you will likely remember Murtha fondly.

However, if you hate corruption and dishonesty, you likely won’t spend much time mourning the passing of Jumpin’ Jack Murtha.

I did not wish the man ill, but I did want him out of Washington.  I wanted him away from his position of power which he abused largely for personal gain for so many years.

The one episode I will have the most difficulty forgiving John Murtha for is how he treated our United States Marine Corps (that’s pronounced “core,” Mr. Obama) over the Haditha, Iraq incident.  With no knowledge of the facts surrounding the case, Murtha raced to get in front of the cameras and microphones to declare the Marines to be wanton murderers and baby killers.  Funny how when EVERY SINGLE MARINE involved in the incident was COMPLETELY EXONERATED, Mr. Murtha couldn’t seem to find a microphone, camera, or even a reporter with a pad and pencil to say “I was wrong,” or “I’m sorry.”  He called himself a “former Marine.”  Of the many Marines I know, some of which I still work with, NOT ONE of them accepts Murtha as one of their fraternity.  Murtha disgraced himself in their eyes, and has been disowned by them.  To be disowned by perhaps the most honorable organization on earth does not speak well of your character.

Being an unindicted co-conspirator in the ABSCAM scandal, and being known as the King of Pork are among just a few of the less than honorable things that Jack Murtha will be remembered for.

He built his own legacy.  Now he’ll have to sleep with it.  God speed, Mr. Murtha.  I pray you found Jesus before you died.
