Liberal Religion: There can be no god other than the state

Have the liberal/progressive/communists (LPC’s) already won?

It is certainly starting to appear that way.  The freedom of religion we were guaranteed by our founding fathers appears to be gone.

Freedom of religion according to LPC’s is only free if you believe what they tell you to believe, which is that there is no god except the state, there are no absolutes, and sin is relative.  What we are seeing demonstrated here is right out of George Orwell’s “1984,” and was a mainstay in communist Russia, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

School officials at Augusta State University demanded that Ms. Keeton attend what amounts to a re-education camp and that she renounce her Christian beliefs if she wanted to receive her diploma.  Then Mr. Howell was fired for teaching CATHOLIC beliefs in a CATHOLIC STUDIES course after someone labeled his teaching as “hate speech.”

You know what?  Enough is a freakin’ nuf.  The ones who are afraid to discuss opposing views, who shut down true free speech, THEY are the haters.  And I will not be afraid to label them as such.

God’s Son warned us this would happen.  (Rev 2:10)  Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Truth can be found anywhere if one is willing to look, even if only to illustrate what is not true.  Sir Karl Popper summed up this situation quite well when he said “If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.”

That is where we stand today.  In the name of “tolerance,” our freedom of speech is being taken from us.  In the name of “tolerance,” we are being silenced by those who do not want their true being exposed by the truth, discussion, discovery, and the light of day.

I will be tolerant and silent no more.  I do not hate a person for the color if their skin.  I do not hate someone because of their sexual orientation.  I do not even hate someone for their political beliefs which differ from mine.  How can I?  God didn’t hate me because I am a sinner.  He loved all of us enough that He allowed His own Son to be beaten, humiliated, and nailed to a cross so that we would not have to suffer the same fate.  (Rom 5:8)  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God instructs us that we are to hate the sin, and love the sinner.  But because I love and want the best for each person, God doesn’t expect or want me to condone and accept things that are sin.

So, in the two cases below, are the two individuals expressing HATE of another person?  Absolutely not.  They are saying that an activity is unacceptable, not the person who is engaging in it.  If you choose to be a homosexual, I don’t approve of the practice, but I will not prevent you from practicing it as long as that practice doesn’t infringe on my rights.  Keep your public displays of affection in private.  That goes for both homo- and heterosexuals.  It’s not something I want to see or want my kids to see.

As for those out there calling Christians haters because our God doesn’t condone homosexuality or whatever your pet sin is, calling conservatives haters and racists because we want EQUAL justice instead of SOCIAL justice or outright communism, IT IS YOU WHO ARE THE HATERS.  By labeling us and then refusing to debate us, it is YOU who are engaging in HATE SPEECH.

I will be tolerant and silent no more.

Jen Keeton

A lawsuit against Augusta State University in Georgia alleges school officials essentially gave a graduate student in counseling the choice of giving up her Christian beliefs or being expelled from the graduate program.

School officials Mary Jane Anderson-Wiley, Paulette Schenck and Richard Deaner demanded student Jen Keeton, 24, go through a “remediation” program after she asserted homosexuality is a behavioral choice, not a “state of being” as a professor said, according to the complaint.

Also named as defendants in the case that developed in May and June are other administrators and the university system’s board of regents.

The remediation program was to include “sensitivity training” on homosexual issues, additional outside study on literature promoting homosexuality and the plan that she attend a “gay pride parade” and report on it.

University of Illinois Instructor Fired Over Catholic Beliefs

Published July 09, 2010

Associated Press
URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois has fired an adjunct professor who taught courses on Catholicism after a student accused the instructor of engaging in hate speech by saying he agrees with the church’s teaching that homosexual sex is immoral.

The professor, Ken Howell of Champaign, said his firing violates his academic freedom. He also lost his job at an on-campus Catholic center.

Howell, who taught Introduction to Catholicism and Modern Catholic Thought, says he was fired at the end of the spring semester after sending an e-mail explaining some Catholic beliefs to his students
preparing for an exam.

“Natural Moral Law says that Morality must be a response to REALITY,” he wrote in the e-mail. “In other words, sexual acts are only appropriate for people who are complementary, not the same.”

An unidentified student sent an e-mail to religion department head Robert McKim on May 13, calling Howell’s e-mail “hate speech.” The student claimed to be a friend of the offended student. The writer said in the e-mail that his friend wanted to remain anonymous.

“Teaching a student about the tenets of a religion is one thing,” the student wrote. “Declaring that homosexual acts violate the natural laws of man is another.”

Howell said he was teaching his students about the Catholic understanding of natural moral law.
