A Break from the Economy

Let’s take a break from the economy to look at the assault on the Judeo/Christian heritage of the United States. The media, hand in hand with the ACLU and the liberals in the courts and government, have been attacking Christianity for a long time. This attack has been carried out under the fraudulent guise of “separation of church and state.” This concept is an intentional liberal misinterpretation of the 1st amendment establishment clause which states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The groups mentioned above misinterpret this to mean that religion can’t be involved in anything public, then contradict their own misinterpretation by promoting other religions above Christianity. The establishment clause means that government can’t force anyone to be, or not to be, a protestant Christian, Catholic, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, atheist, or any other religion under the sun. This does not mean, as the liberals assert, that religion CAN NOT be part of government, schools, etc. Our government was founded by Christians who held religious services in the capitol building, and prayed as a group before doing their work. The establishment clause must be taken in its entirety. It inseparably combines the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition of the government. The 1st amendment and the rest of the constitution says nothing about a right to not be offended. That’s just part of free speech. If you have the right to say what you believe, so does everyone else. You have the right not to listen, but not the right to keep others from listening. You have the right to hang around people who are of a like mind, and to avoid those who think differently. But you don’t have a right to prevent those who think differently from assembling, nor do you have a right to force a group who thinks differently than you to change its values. Can you say “Boy Scouts of America?” How about the Pledge of Allegiance in schools?
